FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Association of Health Insurance Advisors (AHIA), the health insurance division of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), is proud to join The American Association for Long Term Care Insurance (AALTCI) in celebrating Long Term Care Awareness Week – November 5-11, 2006. This week will focus on educating consumers about the reality of long-term care and the urgency to take a proactive stance in planning for their long-term care needs.
More than half of the U.S. population will require some type of long-term care during their lives; nursing home care, home health care, assisted living facility care, or rehabilitation facility care. One out of five Americans over the age of fifty is at risk of needing long-term care in the next 12 months.
AHIA members are getting the word out during LTC Awareness Week by sharing realLIFEstories detailing the value long-term care insurance plays when individuals need long-term care assistance. AHIA invites consumers to visit http://www.ahia.net/AHIA_LTCIFlyer_1006.pdf to learn more about LTCI and how it can save families from financial ruin.
“AHIA realizes the importance of planning for long-term care services and our responsibility as agents to inform the public of financing options,” states AHIA President, Lawrence E. Lounds, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF. “Informing our members about Long Term Care Awareness Week and providing them with consumer friendly education tools will help to get information to the consumer, which is the first important step,” concludes Lounds.
